After two years rebuilding a 1971 250 husky it was finally time to fire the old girl up,after two days of kicking pushing and a lot of swearing it was not going to happen, all the timing/carb/crank seals etc were checked and double checked and nothing was found wrong i was beginning to wonder if thirty years in the motocycle trade had damaged my brain as well as my wallet. After being sent to the naughty step by Linda it finally dawned on me what the problem was, when i first had the bike it did,nt have a piston and they are not easily available so i thought i could modify a wiesco piston if i had an original to copy which a kind person lent me. So with the piston modified to the exact specs and a rebore all was well, yes you guessed this piston i was lent was from a later bike with different intake slots and port timing ,so if any of you guys have a piston from a 1968-1971 model 250 i could borrow i will start again.
P S i now know what the piston should look like
