Well way way back. in 1962. I was 12years old [not stone] it was unclethingys BSA c11g down in the water meadows i think i was flat out in2nd no wonder it started to rattle, Then it was a 1956 Frances Barnett 150plover on the road in 1967 that ended up in the front of a car first of my ofroader Dennis Kelly`s old 360 Greeves Challenger cost £150 of my own hard earned money(just in case the kids read this i did not have a dad that was soft as sh-t)that was 1971, first time out Kingbridge farm groverton devon.? steepest hill i have ever seen,I remember dropping over the top. My back wheel looking up so i clutched it I hit the stream at the bottom about 60mph. I remember telling the St Johns ambulance man to watch where he trod because I lost me glasses, happy days.(never did get much better) Nice one rich see you at the trial ;D ;D ;D ;D

the first time i ever rode a motorbike was all the way back in 1997! i was ten, after waiting 2 years for my dad to finish building the best motorcross bike for me (or thats what he strung me along to believe) he bought a puch maxi for my brother to ride round the garden. so one day whilst my dad was working and my brother was out i hopped on the little twist and go and took her for a spin round the garden. it was all going great untill going round a corner and i opened her up and i shot off over dads veg patch and rode in to his runner bean poles... i untangled it, parked it up and tried to repair the bean poles the best i could.. i never told him that so sorry dad...lol

The first "bike" i bought myself was a Capri 89cc scooter, this was around 1970 when i was 12 (seems a good age to start ;D ) I had previously been riding around the local woods on mates bikes, one of which comes to mind was a NSU quickly. We had a chap who worked for us who used to ride a Puch Maxi to work and leave it our house, i don't think he ever realised i used to to ride it about when i got home from school The Capri scooter was quickly followed by every version of the Bantam ever made except the Bushman, strange that a never owned one of those as converted most of them to off road. I had one with a full road race fairing which i used to ride on the road at 14 (can i still be prosecuted? if so somebody else wrote this ;D ) at night, but as it had no lights it was a tad dangerous so i sold it. By this time i was being paid for doing repair work on Bantams by various locals. My father was never keen on me competing so i had to wait until i was 16 for my first ride at a proper scramble- Yeo Vale at Aller i think. That was 1974 on my 250 Rickman Montesa. My father only ever came to watch me once, he was so nervous and white as a sheet all afternoon. I guess my riding "style" hasn't changed to much since ;D

I started riding when i was 10, a mate had a Raleigh Runabout that for some reason was hidden in our local woods, I dont think it was stolen although we were not to tell anyone. I then got a bantam which i paid £12 for and my dads mate rebuilt it, it took forever but i still remember the feeling when it fired up, We could not afford to race but a mate of mine rode in the horsham schoolboys and i used to watch him every week, he used to race against a little lad called Dave Thorpe--------- I only raced once then, borrowed a moto villa Next time on a bike was a few twinshock trials 6 years ago and started enduros at the ripe age of 47, must be mad,First motocross with you lads at penselwood, best day ever. got the bug and have now got a curtis to ride this year ,and i cant wait,

It was 1952, and father's trials Bantam. On a gravel farm track, I soon had the machine through a barb wire fence. Motor screamin' its nuts off, me hung up in the wire, blood all over and clothes ripped to shreds. Well I was only 6!! I gotta clout from the old man, and another clout and sent to bed from mother. However, the seeds were sown and that was the start of it all.
