I went to the meeting at Penselwood this last weekend and was very impressed with the whole meeting. I have just moved back to the UK after being away for the last +25 years and even at my advanced age want to get back into the sport.
I see that it is easy to join the club but just wonder about joining the AMCA and how that is done. Do I have to join the club first then apply for an AMACA licence once I have joined? I was one of the original members of the Alton AMCA club in the late 70's but I think things have moved on a bit since then!
I have my old Maico 440 1979 that I have recovered from its resting place of the last 30 years and will now start to get that up and running. Just leaves me to shed the pounds and get into some sort of physical shape! I hope to be able to compete in the 23rd September meet.
A born again racer!

Its nice to hear you want to get back racing! ;D I am the editor of the Dorset Classic Newsletter and If you became a member of the club next year which I believe will be around six pounds then you will get a newsletter delivered to your door 4 times a year! Cheers Quadboy

Rob welcome to the forum. Where abouts are you situated?
Membership of our club is £5 and you can get an AMCA license form from us, it has to be signed by an officer of the club and then sent to the AMCA office. Subsequent years licenses can be renewed online and clubs can confirm membership by email to the AMCA. You don't have to buy an AMCA license to compete, we have day licenses in Classic (Twinshock) racing. It depends on how much you will be riding.
Quadboy is jumping the gun a bit about membership costs for next year. The committee will decide if there is to be an item placed on the AGM agenda and any proposal will be voted on by the members. The AGM is usually in November.
If you require any further information leave a message here or email me on admin@dorsetclassic.com
Regards Chris Wiles Chairman.

Thanks for the info Chris and Quadboy.
I am living in Southampton.
I will get the regs for the coming event and just get a day license for that event as that makes more sense for this late in the year. I will get membership as well with the club.
Just wondering how you operate with regard to work parties and marshals? Attending a work party poses no problem for me normally. Providing a marshal could prove a bit more challenging.

A several people from your area usually turn up to working parties and one is a committee member. It is not compulsory to attend working parties, although we do get a really good turn out and have a lot of fun. We don't ask riders to provided a marshal we have a good number of people that we call on.
